Franse animatieserie naar het boek van Selma Lagerlöf. De 14-jarige Nils Holgersson is een luie jongen die altijd kattenkwaad uithaalt en dieren plaagt. Voor straf wordt hij door de huiskabouter heel klein gemaakt. Nu kan hij de dieren verstaan. Samen met de boerderijgans Martin sluit hij zich aan bij een groep wilde ganzen die naar Lapland vliegt, een lange en avontuurlijke reis. Na onder meer 'Maya de bij' en 'Heidi' is nu ook de Japanse tekenfilmserie 'Nils Holgersson' uit de jaren 1980 in een remake door Studio 100 opgefrist en in een 3D-versie opgenomen. Emily Ashby (commonsensemedia.org) geeft 3 sterren en concludeert: ‘Nils Holgersson is lovely to watch, and kids will enjoy the conglomerate of personalities among the flock into which Nils and Martin adopt. Strong messages about friendship, compassion, and being open to new experiences stand out in the stories. There's also a sense of fantasy and new perspective that comes of Nils's magical transformation.
