Komische detective van Ethan Cohen (Get hard) met het bekende duo Will Ferrell en John C. Reilly, die eerder samen te zien waren in ‘Step brothers’ en ‘Talladega nights’. Detective Sherlock Holmes en zijn goede vriend, dokter John Watson, zijn te gast op een verrassingsfeestje voor koningin Victoria. Tijdens het feestje wordt een lijk gevonden in de verjaardagstaart, met een briefje dat binnen vier dagen de koningin gedood zal worden. Het briefje is getekend door Professor James Moriarty, de bekende tegenstander van Holmes. De Amerikaanse recensenten zijn kritisch en Rotten Tomatoes concludeert: ‘The lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson than does Holmes and Watson.’ De film was genomineerd voor zes Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) en kreeg er vier.

Etan Cohen (Hebrew: איתן כהן‎; born March 14, 1974) is an Israeli-American screenwriter and film director, best known for writing the scripts to Tropic Thunder, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Men in Black 3.

Early life and education

Born in Israel to a Jewish family, Cohen grew up in Efrat, Israel, and later on in Sharon, Massachusetts, U.S. He graduated from the Maimonides School and Harvard College, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon.

Career

His first produced scripts, in 1995 and 1997, were for Beavis and Butthead, where he was credited as Ethan Cohen. He has since written for other Mike Judge-directed projects, including King of the Hill from 2001 to 2005, and for the feature film Idiocracy in 2006.
