Een comedyserie van de BBC over het moderne Britse leven. De korte, hilarische of absurde sketches doen denken aan Jiskefet. De meeste rollen worden gespeeld door de schrijvers van de serie, Matt Lucas en David Walliams. Voorzien van pruiken, grime, kostuums en vette accenten brengen ze in een half uur zo'n twintig personages ten tonele. De serie werd uitgezonden door de VPRO. De Volkskrant schrijft: '(...) Noem het Britse humor. Maar de uitvergroting van personages en zwaktes is universeel en gaat net zo goed over Nederland. (...) Steeds weer anders, met veel vaste grappen. (...) Na één aflevering zijn de personages al legendarisch.' De serie won diverse prijzen, waaronder een BAFTA TV Award. De dvd-set bevat extra's, waaronder Little Britain Night Highlights, weggelaten scènes, audiocommentaar en interviews.

About Declan Lowney

Declan Lowney (born 1960) is an Irish television and film director. Known initially for directing musical events such as the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, Lowney is perhaps best known for his work on Irish and British television comedies such as Cold Feet, Little Britain and Father Ted for which he was awarded a BAFTA Award in 1995. He was awarded a second BAFTA Award in 2006 for his work on BBC comedy Help.

He has directed two feature films, Wild About Harry in 2000, and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa in 2013.

Background

Lowney was born in Wexford in County Wexford, Ireland in 1960. At the age of 12, he began using his uncle's Super 8 camera to make short films, and became the winner of local amateur film competitions.
